Deirdre Smith

Deirdre Smith serves as the Head of Corporate Affairs at SSE plc since November 2019, overseeing public affairs, policy, PR, communications, and internal communications for SSE Energy Customer Solutions, which includes SSE Airtricity in Ireland. In addition to this role, Deirdre is a member of the Energy Customer Solutions Executive Committee and the SSE Airtricity Leadership Team. As a member of Meath County Council, Deirdre contributes to local governmental efforts. Previous experience includes serving as a Senior Consultant at Hume Brophy, where strategic advisory expertise was provided across various sectors, and as a Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Specialist at The Reputations Agency. Deirdre also worked as a Political Organiser for Micheál Martin TD and held positions at leading firms such as PwC and Ernst & Young. Deirdre holds a BBS from Trinity College Dublin, an MA from Dublin City University, and a Diploma in Event Management and PR from Fitzwilliam Institute, among other qualifications.
