Tom Bates

Tom Bates has extensive experience in leadership and advisory roles across various sectors, primarily in the energy and resource industries. Currently serving as Chairman of the Board for Vantage Drilling International and having held director positions at SSR Mining Inc. and TETRA Technologies, Inc., Bates has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing corporate governance. As an adjunct professor at Texas Christian University since 2011, Bates contributes to academia while also having served on the boards of multiple companies, including a tenure as Chairman of the Board at Tidewater Marine, which pioneered the work boat industry. Additional experience includes partnering at 4D Global Energy Advisors and a significant role in Independence Contract Drilling. Bates earned an education from the University of Michigan.
