Gilles van Assche

Gilles Van Assche is a Senior Principal Cryptographer at STMicroelectronics, where employment began in October 1998. Concurrently, Gilles serves as a Professor at Université libre de Bruxelles since October 2019, teaching courses on "Introduction to Cryptography" and "Cryptanalysis." From September 2010 to August 2021, Gilles was a Professor at École Supérieure d'Informatique, focusing on cryptography. Gilles completed a PhD in quantum cryptography and information theory at Université libre de Bruxelles, with a thesis titled "Information-theoretic aspects of quantum key distribution," while working alongside a position at Proton World/STMicroelectronics from January 2000 to April 2005. Academic credentials include an Ingénieur Civil degree in Physics obtained from Université libre de Bruxelles from 1993 to 1998 and attendance at Saint Patrick High School in Chicago in 1992-1993.
