Derek Cheng

Derek Cheng is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Stack Overflow since August 2023, with previous experience as a Machine Learning Engineer at Mercari US, where an ML solution was developed to automate item metadata, significantly reducing listing time and increasing volume. Prior to that, Derek worked at Northrop Grumman as a Machine Learning Software Engineer, focusing on real-time object detection and maritime anomaly detection, achieving high precision in target classification. Derek's experience also includes a role as a Modeling and Simulation Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman, where projects involved creating frameworks and interfaces for unmanned aerial systems.
