Michael Hazel serves as the Associate Athletics Director and Chief of Staff for Football at Virginia Tech since January 2022. Concurrently, Michael acts as a Judge for Stadia Ventures, a global Sports Innovation Hub focusing on early-stage investment in sports and esports. Michael has substantial experience in football operations, having held the role of Senior Director of Football Operations at Penn State University from January 2014 to January 2022, and various positions, including Director of Football Operations and Assistant Director of Football Operations, at Vanderbilt University from July 2004 to January 2014. Michael began a career in coaching as a Graduate Assistant Football Coach at both Vanderbilt University and Elon University. Academic qualifications include a Master of Education in Organizational Leadership from Vanderbilt University, an MBA from Elon University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communications from Elon University.
