Melissa Adsit

Melissa Adsit (Van Veen) is an Indigenous biologist who is passionate about uplifting Indigenous voices in the resource sector through engagement with provincial and federal regulations and the development of educational materials. They have worked as a Research Assistant at Simon Fraser University in 2023 and continue to contribute as an Indigenous Engagement professional at Stantec since 2025. Additionally, they are a contractor with Tu'dese'cho Wholistic Indigenous Leadership Development, where they co-lead community-led monitoring on Tahltan territory and engage with Indigenous and science NGOs. Melissa also has experience teaching and supporting early childhood education, as well as various roles focused on Indigenous and traditional knowledge assessment. They hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Simon Fraser University and an Associate of Science in Biology from Douglas College.
