Michelle Tovar

Michelle Tovar is a seasoned environmental professional with extensive experience in biological sciences and project leadership. Since April 2018, Michelle has served as the Senior Principal Biologist and Environmental Services Practice Leader at Stantec, managing a team of over 70 biologists across multiple states. Prior to this role, Michelle worked as a Senior Biologist, Permit Specialist, and COO at Area West Environmental, Inc. from April 2012 to April 2018. Earlier experience includes a tenure at the US Fish and Wildlife Service from December 2003 to April 2012, where Michelle held the position of Senior Fish and Wildlife Biologist and Acting Sacramento Valley Branch Chief, focusing on consultations under the Endangered Species Act and various biological investigations. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences from the University of California, Davis.
