Steve Mathies

Steve Mathies is the Global Practice Leader for Coastal Restoration at Stantec, bringing over 40 years of experience in coastal restoration. A native of Louisiana, they earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Biology from Northwestern State University and a Ph.D. in Botany from Mississippi State University. In their previous roles, they served as Vice President at AECOM and CH2M HILL, and as Executive Director for the Office of Coastal Protection and Restoration for the State of Louisiana. Throughout their career, they have focused on developing and implementing plans to combat coastal land loss and enhance ecosystem resilience across the Gulf of Mexico region.
