Michael Dowd

Michael Dowd is a seasoned privacy, tech, and patent lawyer currently serving as the Senior Company Counsel for Data Privacy, IP, and Global Tech at Staples, where they lead initiatives at the intersection of technology and law. Prior to this role, they spent nearly two decades as a partner at Foley Hoag LLP, focusing on data security and privacy as well as intellectual property. Earlier in their career, Michael worked as a Principal Engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation, contributing to robotics and automation projects while also securing a U.S. patent. They hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.
