Ciara McCarthy is a seasoned journalist with extensive experience in reporting and editorial roles. Currently serving as a reporter at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram since June 2021, McCarthy previously held similar positions at Victoria Advocate and Patch.com. Prior to that, McCarthy contributed as a researcher for Guardian News & Media, playing a significant role in The Counted project, which aimed to document police-related fatalities. McCarthy also served as Editor in Chief of The Daily Northwestern, during which the publication was recognized for excellence by the Society of Professional Journalists. Early career experiences include internships at The Marshall Project, Slate Magazine, and the Institute for Local Self-Government and Responsible Citizenship. McCarthy holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Northwestern University.
