Prior to this role, James managed the workers' compensation program at the Los Angeles Times from February 2003 to May 2014, overseeing auto liability and general liability claims. James's career in workers' compensation began at Fremont Compensation Insurance Co, where a variety of claim positions were held, culminating in the role of Workers' Comp Manager from March 1989 to February 2003. James earned a BA in English from California State University-Northridge, completing the degree from 1981 to 1986.
