Johan Boot is an independent food innovation consultant with extensive experience in research and development across various organizations. They owned BF&LS and established a new innovation program focused on alternative proteins in 2014. From 2018 to 2021, they served as Vice President of Research & Development for Griffith Foods in Europe and Africa, leading product innovation strategies while fostering sustainable practices. Currently, they own BOOT food consultancy and mentor agrifoodtech startups at StartLife, furthering their commitment to advancing sustainable food systems. Johan holds a PhD in Immunochemistry, Biotechnology, and Biomedicine from the University of Amsterdam.
