Brian Richardson

Brian Richardson has had a diverse range of work experiences. Brian is currently the CEO of StartOut. Before that, they held the position of Director, Midwest Region at Lambda Legal from 2019 to 2023. Prior to that, they worked at the Chicago Department of Public Health as Deputy Commissioner from 2012 to 2019. From 2009 to 2011, they were employed at Google as a Communications Manager, Policy. Brian also served as a Press Secretary for the United States Senate from 2005 to 2006 and as the Director, Specialty Media for the Democratic National Committee from 2003 to 2005. In 2001, they started their career as a high school teacher at O. Perry Walker School in New Orleans through Teach for America.

Brian Richardson earned their Bachelor's degree in Geography from the University of Chicago, where they attended from 1997 to 2001. Brian later pursued their MBA at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, graduating between 2006 and 2008.
