Ellen Purpus

Ellen Purpus has over 25 years of experience in technology transfer and commercialization of research. Ellen is currently a board member at StartUpNV, a non-profit organization that helps entrepreneurs start and grow their businesses in Nevada.

Previously, Purpus was the Director of Technology Transfer at The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia, where they oversaw the technology transfer process for the hospital, including patenting, licensing, and marketing of inventions developed by hospital staff.

Before that, Purpus was the Director of Technology Licensing at The Ohio State University, where they managed a team of licensing professionals and negotiated licenses with companies interested in commercializing university research.

Purpus has also worked as a License Associate at Fox Chase Cancer Center, where they were responsible for evaluating invention disclosures and negotiating license agreements.

In their early career, Purpus was a Post-doctoral Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, where they did basic research on cancer biology. Ellen also completed an internship in the Office of Technology Transfer at the NIH.

Ellen Purpus has a certificate in medical writing and editing from the University of Chicago Graham School, a PhD in pathology and cell biology from Thomas Jefferson University, and a BS in biology from Ball State University.
