Ted Downs has a diverse work experience in the forest product industry. Ted started their career at Interpine Forestry Ltd. as a Forester & Forest Analyst, where they provided forestry services, technical services, and resource analysis to corporate and government clients. Ted then joined Pöyry as a Consultant, implementing change and redesigning management systems in the forest products sector. Ted later became a Senior Consultant and eventually a Principal - Operational Excellence, focusing on execution and balanced performance improvement. In 2012, they joined Roseburg Forest Products as a Business Analyst, analyzing value stream opportunities and implementing initiatives for profit maximization. Ted then served as the Technical Manager - Solid Wood Division, overseeing process optimization improvements and representing Roseburg in trade associations. Ted also served as the Plant Manager - Dillard Plywood. Most recently, Ted Downs worked at States Industries as the Vice President of Panel Operations and currently serves as the Vice President of Manufacturing.

Ted Downs completed their education in the field of forestry management. Ted earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Forest Management from Oregon State University, where they studied from 1996 to 2000. Ted further pursued their education at the same university and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Silviculture from 2000 to 2002. In 2016, Ted attended the Columbia Leadership Institute to enhance their skills in leadership, although no specific degree was mentioned.
