Leah Smith is currently the Chief of Strategic Communications and Engagement at Statistics Canada. Previously, Leah held the position of Unit Head for Health Data Strategy at Statistics Canada from 2021 to 2023. Leah's earlier experience includes serving as an Epidemiologist and Senior Manager of Surveillance at the Canadian Cancer Society from 2015 to 2017, and as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Queen's University from 2014 to 2015. Leah earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Epidemiology from McGill University and a Master of Science in Epidemiology from Queen's University. Leah also holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology with a French minor from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
