Colin Simpson is a Professor of Population Health at Victoria University of Wellington, where roles include Acting Associate Dean Research and Associate Dean Research & Innovation since December 2017. Additionally, Colin serves as Chairperson of the Data Ethics Advisory Group at Stats NZ, providing expert advice on data use since May 2023. Colin has held various positions at the University of Edinburgh since 2009, including Honorary Fellow, Reader in Population Health Sciences & Informatics, and Director of Innovation at the Usher Institute. In 2015, Colin co-founded Triscribe Ltd, focusing on improving patient safety through innovative analytics solutions, which was acquired in 2025. Prior experience includes academic roles at NHS National Services Scotland and the University of Aberdeen. Colin holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Aberdeen and additional qualifications in Allergy, Human Resources Management, Economics, and Health Sciences.
