Patrick Lucey

Chief Scientist at Stats Perform

Patrick Lucey has a diverse work experience in the field of research and data science. Patrick started their career as a Research Intern at IBM in 2006, focusing on recognizing visual speech from different viewpoints. After that, Lucey joined Queensland University of Technology as a PhD Candidate/Research Associate, where they conducted research into AVASR and emotion detection, co-organized a conference, and supervised a master's student. In 2009, they became a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute. Lucey then joined Disney Research Pittsburgh in 2010 as a Postdoctoral Associate Researcher before being promoted to Associate Research Scientist. In 2015, Lucey transitioned to Stats Perform as the Director of Data Science and later became the VP of Artificial Intelligence in 2018. Since July 2019, they have been serving as the Chief Scientist at Stats Perform.

Patrick Lucey earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering from QUT (Queensland University of Technology) between 2004 and 2008. Prior to that, they received a BEng in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern Queensland from 2000 to 2003.
