Timothy Chan is a Lead Data Scientist at Statsig. Timothy was previously a Staff Data Scientist at Facebook from July 2016 to February 2021. At Facebook, they worked on Facebook Gaming from 2016-2019 and on Facebook Reality Labs - Voice/AI Assistant from 2019-2021. Prior to that, they were a Data Science Fellow at Galvanize Inc from February 2016 to May 2016. During their time at Galvanize Inc, they completed a 3-month competitive, immersive data science program emphasizing data science tools, statistical thinking, machine learning and software development in Python. Their capstone project was "The Boston Marathon - Cheaters and Winners". Timothy built a gradient boosting model to predict finish times based on a runner's prior marathon history, weather, and demographics. Timothy also built an outlier classification model to identify likely cheaters. Before that, they were a Scientist at Biogen from June 2007 to June 2015 where they analyzed data sets to identify and validate possible causation of disease across oncology, immunology, and neurology. Timothy also designed and synthesized Vecabrutinib (aka SNS-062), an oral inhibitor of BTK (Bruton's Tyrosine Kinase) currently in human clinical drug trials for B-cell lymphoma.

Timothy Chan has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Scripps Research and a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Entrepreneurship from Boston University. Timothy also has a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Alberta.
