Corey Petty

Corey Petty has a diverse work experience. Corey currently holds the position of Chief Security Officer at Status since January 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Security Engineer at Status from July 2018 to January 2020. Corey is also the Co-founder and Co-host of the Hashing It Out Podcast since April 2018. Corey was the Host of The Bitcoin Podcast from June 2015 onwards. Corey previously served as a Senior Blockchain Scientist, SME at Booz Allen Hamilton from September 2017 to January 2020. Corey worked as a Blockchain Developer at Novetta from November 2016 to January 2020. Corey also had a role as a Personal Contractor at Chain of Things in September to November 2016, where they were responsible for designing and deploying a private Ethereum blockchain infrastructure. Corey started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at ITA from January 2015 to September 2016, and prior to that, they worked as a Research Assistant at Texas Tech University from January 2009 to August 2014.

Corey Petty obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical Physics from Texas Tech University in the years 2009 to 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Physics from Texas Tech University from 2004 to 2009. In 2003 to 2004, Corey attended the University of Texas at Tyler, but there is no information about the degree they pursued or the field of study. In terms of certifications, they obtained the DCC Certified Professional certification from the Digital Currency Council in January 2017 and became a Certified Bitcoin Professional through the CryptoCurrency Certification Consortium in November 2016.
