Dom Smith

Dom Smith is the UK Active Travel Lead at Steer, a position they assumed in November 2024 after a decade at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) leading the Active Travel Infrastructure team. At TfGM, Dom played a pivotal role in the development of the 'Bee Network', the UK’s first fully connected active travel network, and delivered over 120km of transformational infrastructure, including more than 20km of protected cycle lanes. Prior to TfGM, they held roles at Trafford Metropolitan Borough Council, Stockport Council, and WSP, demonstrating a strong commitment to enhancing transport and road safety. Dom holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of East Anglia, earned in 2002, and is passionate about workplace wellbeing and mental health.
