David Smith began their work experience in 2004 at Skyjack as a Test, Validation, and Data Acquisition Specialist. David then moved on to Grupo Fenix in 2008, where they worked as a Solar Technical Specialist and Volunteer Coordinator. In 2010, they joined M.K. Ince and Associates Ltd. as an Instrumentation and Construction Manager. Next, they worked at WorleyParsons from 2012 to 2014 as an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer in Training.
