Nicolas Barry

Nicolas Barry is currently the Chief Technical Officer at Stellar Development Foundation. Nicolas was previously a Software Developer and Alchemist at Stellar.org, where they were the main contributor of Stellar-core, a decentralized peer to peer payment system running on commodity hardware.

At Stellar Development Foundation, Nicolas is responsible for the high level architecture of the overall system, including design for scale, safety, and security. Nicolas also drove the release schedule for core and oversaw the roadmap. Some of their other notable accomplishments include working with Professor David Mazières on the whitepaper for the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP), and implementing the first production implementation of SCP. Nicolas also designed and implemented payment operations for the network, with an emphasis on ease of use and security for developers around the world.

Nicolas has a wide range of skills and experience, including C++ 11, Distributed Systems, SQL, Cryptography, P2P systems, virtual currency, Open Source development, FinTech, Financial Inclusion, Linux systems, and Git/GitHub.

Nicolas Barry studied at ENSEEIHT where they obtained their master's degree in applied mathematics and computer science. Nicolas also has certification from Coursera in artificial intelligence planning and machine learning.
