Jochen Hartmann has over 15 years of professional experience in software engineering, product development, and design. In 2019, they began working as a Senior Software Engineer at Stenon, where they focus on customer-facing web applications and geo-spatial data visualization. In 2018, they worked as a System Architect and Front-End Developer at Omission.Studio, where they developed a working mobile application prototype to connect over 1.2 million active users. From 2014 to 2018, they worked at Columbia University as a Geospatial Technology Developer for the Center for Spatial Research, a Design Lead for the Brain Index, and an Adjunct Assistant Professor. From 2014 to 2015, they were a Game Designer at The Museum of Modern Art. From 2008 to 2011, they were a Senior Developer Programs Engineer at Google, where they contributed over 100,000 lines of code and presented at conferences worldwide. From 2005 to 2008, they were the Director of Technology at the Buckminster Fuller Institute. Finally, from 2002 to 2005, they were the Product Development Lead for the Equity Infrastructure project team at Morgan Stanley, where they led three teams of contractors and developed process automation and reporting tools.

Jochen Hartmann completed a BFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design between 1996 and 2000. Jochen then went on to pursue a Masters in Architecture from the Parsons School of Design - The New School from 2009 to 2010. Jochen then completed a Masters of Architecture from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation between 2010 and 2013.
