Hern Kim has extensive work experience in the field of medical device design and consulting. Hern started their career in 2007 as a Medical Device Design Consultant at HERNETICS, LLC, where they specialized in rapid product development and worked on a wide range of medical devices. Their expertise included front-end concept development, ergonomic study, prototyping and design validation, and full-scale manufacturing.

In 2014, Hern worked as a Medical Device Consultant at Corindus Vascular Robotics and TransMedics, Inc., where they provided their expertise in medical device design and development. In 2015, they joined PathMaker Neurosystems Inc. as a Medical Device Consultant, where they continued to contribute their skills and knowledge in designing medical devices.

From 2016 to 2021, Hern worked as a Medical Device Consultant at Transmural Systems and Johns Hopkins Medicine - Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery. During this time, they continued to provide their expertise in the field of medical devices, focusing on consulting and advising on various projects.

In 2017, Hern also worked briefly as a Medical Device Consultant at Cytrellis Biosystems, Inc. and NorthEast Monitoring Inc., where they utilized their skills in designing and developing medical devices.

More recently, Hern has held positions as Chief Design Officer at EZ Scope since 2020 and as a Medical Device Consultant at Cision Vision since 2022.

Throughout their career, Hern Kim has demonstrated their expertise in medical device design and development, working on Class I/II/III medical devices. Hern has worked on various types of devices including catheter delivery/control systems, dental devices, ergonomic handhelds, surgical robotics, imaging systems, medical carts, and lab benchtop equipment.

Hern Kim has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from Wentworth Institute of Technology. Additionally, they attended Boston University, specifically the College of Engineering. Furthermore, Hern Kim also attended Bronx High School of Science.
