Lane Messer has held a variety of roles in the IT industry since 2014. In 2014, they began working at GMC Hosting as a Remote Support, where they supported 1,500 customers with installation and maintenance of Ubuntu 15. 10, configured and designed structure for third-party user addons, maintained virtual servers for longevity and performance, and notified the correct department in the event of hardware failure and restored backups. In 2016, they began working at Claiborne E-911 as a GIS Technician. In 2019, they began working at Bell County Schools as a District Technician, where they managed 3,500+ end-user devices ranging from student Chromebooks, iPads, and desktops, maintained and managed on-site Nortel MICs PBX, designed and deployed newer wireless infrastructure through Extreme Campus Controller, maintained Extreme Networks V2110 and VE6120 Wireless Controllers, coordinated with staff trainings and on-site IT Support, installed and managed Extreme EXOS switching and routing ranging from x460s and up, repaired or replaced damaged Chromebook components, deployed OS Ticket - ticketing system for District Technician Support, managed MDT and SCCM for Windows Environment, built and provisioned user accounts in Exchange and Google Workspace, and managed GPO and EPO. Lane was later promoted to District Technology Coordinator. In 2022, they began working at STEP CG as a Network Support Engineer II.
Lane Messer obtained an Associate's degree in Computer Science from Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College in 2018. Lane also obtained an Associate of Science - AS in Computer Science from the same institution. In 2021, they received a Bachelor of Applied Science - BASc from Western Governors University. Additionally, they have obtained certifications from the Linux Professional Institute (LPI), CompTIA, Google, Cisco, and Fortinet, with the most recent being LE-1 Linux Essentials from the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) in February 2023.
