Spinal Muscular Atrophy Teaching and Excellence for Physiotherapists 
an International Network (STEP-IN) was founded in 2018 with the purpose of connecting an open, inclusive, collaborative global network of physiotherapists of all levels of SMA experience and training.

With the availability of disease modifying therapies, there is an urgent demand to develop competency based educational programs that would provide PTs worldwide the necessary knowledge and training to contribute to patient care and clinical research. STEP-IN offers course materials, resources and competency based educational programs across the globe. Faculty have over thirty years of experience in education and providing clinical care for those with neuromuscular diseases.  They are nationally and internationally known researchers in these fields.
