Vera Aleksic

Vera Aleksic has extensive experience in the field of linguistics, currently serving as a Staff Linguist, Technical Lead Linguistics, and Senior Linguist for Semantic Search at The Stepstone Group since April 2015. Previous roles include Computational Linguist and NLP Engineer at Linguatec from February 2004 to April 2015, where responsibilities involved machine translation and speech recognition. Vera also worked as a Computational Linguist at Comprendium and Sail Labs, and as a freelance translator from 1991 to 1998, specializing in Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian to German translations. Early career involvement included work with The Association of Translators and Interpreters of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1986 to 1990. Vera holds a Diplom in Slavonic studies from the University of Sarajevo, along with further studies at the University of Regensburg and the University of Belgrade.
