STES Rocketry Team was set up by a group of six enthusiastic undergrad students in the summer of 2017 with the objective of participating in the IREC SA Cup 2018. Coming from a country where the space program has just very recently made progress, rocket science, as a hobby or career, is not quite prominent among university students. When the idea of setting up the team was being concieved, noone around us would believe that undergrad students could actually build a rocket. Our team is founded on the motivation to make rocket science a more widely chosen field to work in. Rocketry, even as a hobby, can be a wildly interesting and challenging endeavour. To get this idea out to the students and encouraging them to particpate in it freely, is one of the pillars this team is built upon.
