Mike Hapgood is a seasoned expert in Space Weather Science with an extensive career spanning over four decades. Currently serving as a Visiting Scientist at STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory since 1982, Mike has held several significant roles including Head of Space Weather and Principal Consultant on Space Weather at RAL Space. Mike has contributed to numerous projects and committees, such as leading the ESA-funded project "Nano Satellite Beacons for Space Weather Monitoring" and chairing the Space Environment Impacts Expert Group. In addition to roles at several prestigious organizations like the Royal Astronomical Society, American Geophysical Union, and Lancaster University, Mike has played a vital role in informing policy through advisory positions, including a Specialist Advisor role for the House of Commons. An alumnus of the University of Sussex and University of Oxford, Mike is recognized as a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
