Robert Firth is currently a Senior AI Research Scientist within the Artificial Intelligence team at the STFC Hartree Centre in Daresbury, Cheshire, specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP). They lead projects involving both academic and industrial partners and chair the internal Responsible Innovation and Ethical AI Working Group, focusing on reliable large language model applications. Previously, Robert gained experience as a Data Scientist at STFC and worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Southampton. They hold a Ph.D. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Southampton and a Master’s Degree in Physics and Astronomy from The University of Sheffield. Additionally, Robert contributes to academia by supervising a student at the University of Liverpool.
