Stiff is a strategic communications agency. We help organizations improve human connection to build trust, increase sales and preserve talent. Our work is precise, efficient and effective. Through critical analysis, we determine how communications and marketing initiatives can shift perceptions and generate actual business growth.

We’re an Ottawa-based, family-owned and operated business. Healthy and honest relationships have enabled us to grow a strong reputation over the past 32 years.

Our understanding of business strategy and our obsession with language enable us to provide counsel unlike any other advertising, creative or marketing company. We excel at positioning—uncovering that single point of differentiation that helps organizations grow beyond any competitor, shareholder or customer concern.

We work with government departments, membership organizations, not-for-profits and private sector clients in Canada, the US, Bermuda and Europe. From speech writing to annual reports, digital marketing to video and animation, we bring our strategic focus to a wide range of marketing and communications products.

We are passionate about good writing. We believe that everyone is a writer because everyone writes. Over the last thirty years, we’ve been developing and refining Backdraft, our writing training system. Only 36 errors account for 95% of mistakes in written English. Our system teaches you how to spot, name and fix these fumbles so you can write with clarity and impact. It is designed for anyone who wants to be in control of their thinking and writing. Who wants to build their writing confidence. Who needs to communicate meaning and forge connection, always.

Write better. For life.
