Prior to this, Simon was the chief executive of the National Union of Students, and Brook, the young people’s sexual health charity.
He also previously worked at the National Children’s Bureau, where he held a number of positions including Assistant Director of Children’s Development and Director of the Sex Education Forum.
Simon is committed to achieving equality for LGBT people at all stages of life. He has chaired Diversity Role Models, written about sex and relationship education for LGBT young people, and been a long-time campaigner for the rights of LGBT young people.
He is also a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a director of Endsleigh Insurance Services.
In 2011, Simon was awarded an OBE for services to the voluntary sector and young people.
