Sandra Clark

Sandra Clark is the current Chief Executive Officer at StoryCorps. Sandra has held this position since February of 2022. Prior to their current role, Sandra served as the Vice President for News and Civic Dialogue at WHYY from August of 2016 to February of 2022. As a member of the Executive Committee, they were responsible for cross-enterprise alignment to grow and diversify audiences on all platforms, drive revenue and membership, and amplify the WHYY brand. Sandra led a staff of 60, overseeing all news-gathering operations for radio, television, and digital media. In addition, they were responsible for civic dialogue and community engagement in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and South Jersey. Sandra successfully oversaw a $4.3 million budget and was recognized by the Philadelphia Tribune as one of the city's Most Influential African-American Leaders.

During their time at WHYY, Sandra raised $1.9 million in journalism grants in FY '21, led an audience-first digital transformation and record performance, achieved diversification of newsroom from 19 percent BIPOC to 40 percent BIPOC in 4 years, developed a model for race, ethnicity and gender source diversity tracking, was credited as the primary driver of WHYY cultural competency and community trust-building, built innovative and impactful community engagement strategies, and was recognized nationally and locally as a leader for reform in journalism.

Sandra Clark has earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Arcadia University School of Global Business and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Journalism from the University of Kansas.
