Cory Thompson is a Managing Director and President of the Transaction Advisory group at Stout. He has more than 20 years of experience providing a broad range of business valuation and financial advisory services specializing in the valuation of business enterprises, intangible assets, and debt, equity, and derivative instruments for financial and tax reporting purposes, as well as corporate strategic planning matters.

Cory is well-versed in FASB ASC topics regarding business combinations (acquisition accounting), impairment testing (goodwill and indefinite- and finite-lived assets), share-based payment awards, and Fair Value measurements (mark-to-market valuations) and he has experience with the expectations of financial reporting entities, advisors, and regulators. His experience spans a diverse client base, from regional middle market businesses to multi-billion dollar SEC reporting enterprises, private equity, venture capital, and hedge funds, and accounting firms.

Cory has served numerous industries and has extensive experience in the diversified industrials and automotive spaces. Specifically, Cory has a vast range of experience working with original equipment manufacturers and their suppliers. In this capacity, he has developed technical expertise with respect to traditional chassis and powertrain engineering technologies as well as the software and systems of the future that support electric vehicles and autonomous driving and active safety control systems.
