Brian Decann

Brian DeCann is an accomplished Principal Scientist with extensive experience in image and data science, particularly in biometric systems and artificial intelligence. Currently serving in the Video and Image Understanding group at STR, Brian leads significant research initiatives, including a DARPA Artificial Intelligence Exploration program. Previously, Brian contributed as an Image and Data Scientist at Noblis, focusing on identity management. Early career roles included engineering positions at CSC, SRC, and Black River Systems Company, where Brian developed expertise in biometric systems and prototype development. Brian holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University and has advanced degrees from Clarkson University, reflecting a strong academic foundation in engineering.
