David Friedman

Director, Space System Programs

David Friedman serves as the Director of Space System Programs at Systems & Technology Research since August 2019. Prior experience includes a distinguished 20-year career with the United States Air Force, where Friedman held key leadership roles such as Materiel Leader for Advanced Technology Systems, leading a team of 375 to manage a $450M IT portfolio, and as System Program Manager for Strategic Space Systems, overseeing a multi-agency initiative with a budget exceeding $600M. Additional positions include Deputy PM/Chief Engineer for the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle program, which involved directing a 600-member team in the development of the first unmanned, reusable spacecraft. Friedman's educational credentials include a Master of Science in Astronautical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tulane University, along with a Master of Arts in Military Operational Art and Science from the USAF Air Command and Staff College.
