Richard Hommel

Richard Hommel is a Senior Modeling and Simulation Engineer at STR since March 2024, where responsibilities include leading the integration of flight simulation software for multi-fidelity and computationally efficient theater-scale simulations, designing data exchange interfaces, and developing AI-driven, C++-based testing capabilities. Prior experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant for a PhD program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from August 2018 to March 2024, focusing on computational rheology and data-driven modeling of complex fluids. Previous roles as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Vermont Medical Center involved research on interfacial dynamics and lung decellularization techniques, respectively. Richard holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BS in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
