Strait Talk, founded in 2005 at Brown University, is the world’s first non-partisan, dialogue-based workshop dedicated to building peace in the Taiwan Strait through open dialogue and mutual understanding. Over the past 20 years, it has convened workshops across East Asia and North America, engaging more than 1,200 young leaders from Taiwan, Mainland China, the United States, and Japan. Strait Talk was first held in Tokyo in 2024, with the second edition in Okinawa in 2025.

Moving beyond traditional, interest-based negotiations, Strait Talk uses Interactive Conflict Resolution (ICR) to collectively examine the roots of the long-standing cross-Strait conflict, co-develop potential resolution options and action plans, and cultivate enduring cross-border relationships among emerging leaders.
