Daniel Blazekovic is a Consultant in StrategyCorp’s Management Consulting Practice. Prior to joining StrategyCorp, Daniel worked for the Regional Municipality of York in several policy-related roles within the Finance Department.
Daniel initially joined the Region through the organization’s prestigious Triple A – Associate Analyst Program. In this role, Daniel had the opportunity to rotate through several branches of the Finance Department to lead several policy projects. For instance, Daniel co-led the creation of the Region’s Enterprise Risk Management Action Plan and spent time providing policy support within the Finance Commissioner’s Office. In his role as a Finance Policy and Research Analyst, Daniel specialized in budget development for the Finance Department; in particular, he carried out data collection and analysis to support the development, monitoring and reporting of Departmental strategic and business plans and budgets. Throughout his time at York Region, Daniel helped to develop and present the Finance Department’s 2021 and 2022 Operating and Capital budgets for Chief Administrative Officer and Council approval. Daniel also led Finance’s 2019 United Way CN Tower Climb #YRCARES team which helped to raise over $6,000 for United Way Greater Toronto.
In addition to his extensive experience in the municipal public sector, Daniel developed a strong understanding of the domestic and international not-for-profit sector while an undergraduate student at Carleton University. After receiving a research grant from the Arthur Kroeger College of Public Affairs in 2016, Daniel joined a research team at the Peruvian NGO Nexos Comunitarios to help measure the socioeconomic effects of several nationally implemented social assistance programs in the rural Andean community of Cuncani. In addition, Daniel completed an internship at WaterAid Canada where he worked alongside the Director of International Programs to identify innovative tools and strategies to enhance the organization’s ability to effectively monitor capacity building initiatives in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector.
Daniel holds a Masters degree from the Munk School of Public Policy and Global Affairs at the University of Toronto; and a Bachelor of Public Affairs and Policy Management degree with a specialization in Development Studies from Carleton University.
