Ivan Casco

Ivan Casco is the current Chief Technology Officer at StratusGrid. Prior to this, they worked as the DevOps Lead at BBVA from September 2017 to March 2021. Ivan was also previously employed at Sngular from June 2016 to September 2017 as the Cloud Architect & DevOps Engineer at BBVA Compass.

At BBVA Compass, Ivan was a member of the US PaaS DevOps team where they helped build microservices inside Docker containers which were then deployed in a Kubernetes cluster hosted on AWS. Their everyday tasks included maintaining the Kubernetes cluster, provisioning MongoDB databases, monitoring everything, and architecting the infrastructure. Ivan was also a member of the Global DevOps Team where they helped architect, develop, and manage the CI/CD tools that were used by projects in every country.

Ivan's last accomplishment at BBVA was helping jumpstart the adoption of the new software architecture. When they started working on the project in November, there was only a small POC but by the time they left, there was a fully automated development environment in place that could build and test code before deploying it all the way to production using CI/CD tools. This allowed the Bank to develop and implement new financial APIs in a matter of days instead of months.

Ivan Casco earned a Master of Science in Information Technology Management from Western Governors University, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Thomas Edison State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from Thomas Edison State University. Ivan also earned a Grado en Ingeniería Informática from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, a Bachillerato in Tecnológico from Tajamar, and an Educación Secundaria Obligatoria from Tajamar. Additionally, they have a certification from MongoDB, Inc. in MongoDB Certified DBA, a certification from Cambridge English Language Assessment in English B2 - First Certificate in English, and certifications from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional and AWS Certified Developer - Associate.
