Derick Yang

Derick Yang is a Senior Software Engineer II at Strava, where responsibilities include engineering an immutable batch key-value store and presenting on Strava's heatmap at the OpenStreetMap's State of the Map conference. Previous experience includes serving as a Senior Software Engineer in the Metro Server, where Derick launched the Origins/Destinations feature and introduced a new data storage pattern. Prior to Strava, Derick worked at Wealthfront, implementing infrastructure-as-code solutions, building PCI-compliant onboarding infrastructure, and developing data pipelines. Earlier roles include software engineering internships at MathWorks, Embark Corporation, and CipherHealth, as well as research assistance at Tufts University's Human-Robot Interaction Laboratory. Derick holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tufts University.
