Ben O'Brien is the CEO of StretchSense, a company that makes motion capture gloves for content creation in the game, movie, and ARVR industries. Ben has a deep heritage in stretchable sensors that are perfect for measuring human body motion - their sensors are reliable, accurate, comfortable, and easy to use.
Before StretchSense, Ben was a Rutherford Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Auckland, where they explored ion-implanted artificial muscle circuits and built a Turing complete artificial muscle computer. Ben spent 6 months at EPFL in Neuchatel, Switzerland and 18 months at UoA in Auckland, New Zealand.
Ben O'Brien has a PhD in bioengineering from the University of Auckland. Ben's research focuses on creating networks of flexible actuators with distributed sensitivity and intelligence, in order to achieve the robust and adaptable performance seen in nature.
