Paul Santiago

Paul Santiago has an extensive work experience in the financial intelligence and compliance field. Paul is currently serving as the Chief Compliance Officer at Strike since October 2021. Prior to that, they held the position of Global Head of FIU at Novi | Facebook from May 2020 to September 2021.

Before joining Novi Financial, Paul worked at Kraken Digital Asset Exchange from August 2018 to May 2020 as the Head of Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). During this time, they established Kraken's global financial crime investigations, transaction monitoring, and law enforcement engagement program. Paul managed a team responsible for various areas including blockchain analytics and monitoring, AML investigations, SAR filings, law enforcement engagement, market surveillance, and regulatory exams.

Prior to Kraken, Paul worked at HSBC in different roles. Paul served as VP - Complex Investigations from April 2017 to July 2018, Director of Regional Head, Operational Intelligence - Financial Intelligence Unit from July 2015 to April 2017, and Deputy Regional Head, Client Intelligence - Financial Intelligence Unit from the start of their tenure in 2011 until July 2015.

Paul also has professional experience at Diligence LLC as Intelligence and Investigations from 2009 to 2011, and at The Mind Company as a Junior Consultant from 2008 to 2009.

Paul Santiago has a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from Columbia University. Paul also completed a study abroad program at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where they focused on European Union and International Affairs. In addition to their formal education, they obtained the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification in 2012.
