Joseph Carrillo has a long and varied work experience. Joseph began their career in 1993 as a Substance Abuse Counselor at the Cook County Sheriff's Daily Reporting Center. In 1996, they moved to the Westside Association for Community Action Foundation as a Juvenile Court Advocate, advocating for juvenile clients charged with criminal offenses in Cook County Juvenile Court. In 1997, they became a Job Developer at Youth Service, Inc. and an Alcohol Tobbaco And Other Drug Prevention Spealist at the Association House of Chicago. In 1999, they began working as an Outreach Coordinator at Access Community Health Network, arranging for clients with gang tattoos to have them removed. In 2014, they started working as a Stringr Inc News Videographer at Operation Solorio Making It Happen. In 2015, they joined Stringr as a Breaking News Video Provider. In 2019, they began working as a News Correspondent at Sota Iya Ye Yapi. Most recently, they have been working as a Freelance News Videographer at Stringr Inc.

Joseph Carrillo obtained an Associate's degree in Substance Abuse/Addiction Counseling from Saint Augustine College between 1993 and 1995.
