Martin Pool

Martin Pool is a seasoned Staff Software Engineer with extensive experience in cloud security and infrastructure. Currently at Stripe since July 2021, Martin focuses on securing AWS and other cloud environments while addressing adversarial outages and providing security guidance. Previously, Martin spent nearly a decade at Google, leading initiatives for modeling, controlling, and monitoring production and corporate networks, as well as developing Google's threat detection and response pipeline. Martin's early career includes significant contributions at Canonical as a Lead Engineer in developing the popular Bazaar version control tool, and noteworthy innovations such as the distcc build tool. Martin's background also encompasses engineering roles at HP, Linuxcare, and VA Linux Systems, contributing to various projects in systems performance and open-source software. Martin holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from The University of Queensland.
