Sam Showalter is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Stripe, focusing on transaction risk and fraud prevention. Previously, Sam held roles as an Applied Scientist at Amazon and a Machine Learning Researcher at Qualcomm, where they worked on advanced algorithms and image editing models. With a strong foundation in machine learning and data science, Sam has also served as a consultant at West Monroe Partners and as a research scientist at SRI International, developing significant tools for competency assessment in reinforcement learning. Sam is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at UC Irvine, building on a Master's degree from the same institution and a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Economics from DePauw University.
