Renato Bastos has a diverse work experience spanning from 1996 to 2018. Renato started their career as a Geotechnical Engineer, where they were responsible for designing, supervising, and quality control of geotechnical interventions in civil work projects. Renato also conducted research on soil viscosity, soil-structure interaction, and piling foundations.

In 2000, Renato moved to Oceaneering as a Design Engineer. Here, they analyzed control umbilical cables, risers, and umbilical structures for offshore applications. Renato also participated in the design of terminations and accessories for umbilical cables.

Renato joined Subsea 7 in 2001, where they held various roles. As a Project Engineer, they supported sales and marketing in business development and tendering activities. Renato also led the qualification program and installation of flexible pipelines in offshore Brazil. Later, they became the Commercial Manager, responsible for tendering activities and providing support to sales and marketing. Eventually, they became the Technical Director for South America, overseeing engineering and supply chain management functions.

In 2011, Renato joined Ocyan (formerly Odebrecht Oil & Gas) as the Business Unit Director. Renato led the Subsea Business Unit and implemented the business segment in the company. Renato also managed overall business operations, including commercial strategy, bidding, and project execution.

From 2017 to 2018, Renato worked as an Angel Investor, and in 2018, they joined Strohm as the Vice President for Brazil. Here, they established the company's presence in Brazil, built a local team, and implemented the business strategy, including the Joint Industry Program with Shell Brasil and Petrobras.

Throughout their career, Renato has demonstrated expertise in project management, engineering, finance, and administration. Renato has significant experience in the offshore oil and gas industry, particularly in subsea operations, pipeline systems, and flexible pipe technology.

Renato Bastos has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, which they obtained from 1990 to 1995. Renato further pursued their education and earned a Master of Science degree in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering from the same university during the period of 1996 to 2000. In 2005, Renato participated in a Leadership Development Program at Hult Ashridge. Finally, in 2016, they attended the Stanford University Graduate School of Business for a course on Interpersonal Dynamics for High-Performance Executives.
