Laura McGregor

Communication Support Coordinator at Stroke Association

Laura McGregor has a solid background in speech and language therapy. Laura began their work experience in 2012 at Breightmet Health Centre, where they served as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist (Undergraduate). During their time there, they worked with children with autism, learning disabilities, and specific language impairment who were attending mainstream school. Laura was responsible for planning therapy sessions, creating resources, conducting assessments, and providing feedback to teachers and teaching assistants. In 2013, they had a brief stint at Blackpool Victoria Hospital as a Speech and Language Therapist (Undergraduate). Laura then moved on to Macclesfield District General Hospital in 2015, where they worked as a Speech and Language Therapist (Undergraduate). Finally, they joined The Stroke Association later in the same year as a Communication Support Coordinator.

Laura McGregor obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Speech and Language Therapy from The University of Manchester, where they studied from 2011 to 2015. In addition to their degree, they have also obtained several certifications, including "Coaching to Develop People," "Choosing the Right People," "Stroke Fundamentals and Recovery," "Awareness of Dementia," "Communication and Ageing," "Communication and Our Nervous System," "Emergency First Aid at Work," "Equal Opportunities in the Workplace," "Display Screen Equipment and Workstation Safety," "Diversity, Equality and Discrimination," "Fire Safety and Evacuation," "Hand Hygiene," "Harassment and Victimisation," "Information Governance," "Introduction to Supported Conversation," and "Safeguarding Adults." These certifications were obtained between October 2015 and March 2016, with various institutions such as the Stroke Association and St. Johns Ambulance.
