James Townend

James Townend has an extensive work experience in the field of data science and analytics. James is currently working at Strong Analytics as a Senior Machine Learning Scientist since November 2022. Prior to that, they had a role at Sparkgeo as a Senior Data Scientist from May 2021 to November 2022, where they worked as a consultant for technology companies and focused on building ML products and scalable data pipelines in the cloud. Before Sparkgeo, James worked at Deloitte as a Senior Data Scientist from September 2017 to August 2020, where they developed and productionized ML-based solutions with a strong emphasis on client engagement. James also worked at Maersk Oil as a Geophysicist from January 2013 to February 2017, where they analyzed and modeled complex unstructured datasets and presented research at international conferences. James started their career at AWE as a Physicist from March 2009 to June 2011, where they performed analysis and modeling in support of The Ministry of Defence and Homeland Security and also delivered technical courses.
